Isuzu Motors Ltd (Japanese い す ゞ 自動 車 株式会社, Isuzu Jido: Xia Kabushikigai) (TYO: 7202) is the first Japanese automobile company. Headquarters – in Tokyo.
Milestones in the history of the company:
1916 – Tokyo Ishikawajima Ship Building and Engineering Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. building a car factory. 1918, July – Tokyo Ishikawajima Ship Building and Engineering enters into a technical cooperation contract with the British company Wolseley Motors. 1919, March – Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. by military order produces a truck T.G.E.1922, December – Tokyo Ishikawajima Ship Building and Engineering assembles the 1st licensed Wolseley, model A-9.1933, March – Ishikawajima Automotive Works connects together with Dot Automobile Manufacturing Inc. and renamed Automobile Industries Co., Ltd. 1934, July – the car, commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, gets the name “Isuzu.” 1937, April – Tokyo Automobile Industries Co., Ltd. is created (predecessor of Isuzu Motors Ltd.) with a registered capital of one million yen.
